Anaconda have been successfully prosecuted for a fall that occurred from one of their climbing walls in Victoria. Whilst there are some questionable decisions in this finding (e.g. Anaconda being reprimanded for incorrect installation – which was done through a contractor; and the argument that any activity involving people and equipment could be '100% safe'), it is timely to bear in mind the ongoing inspection and maintenance requirements that we have for gear used in the delivery of outdoor and adventure activities.
Please refer to the relevant activity AAS for further detail on maintenance and inspection requirements for some equipment, particularly in relation to climbing walls.
